How do I get on welfare.?

My mom thinks that I've been working enough now and I do too. I'm looking to take some time off for a while from work and get some relaxing time in. I need something to cover our mortgage, car payment and credit card bills.

I've been looking into social services and welfare. Can anyone recommend any good safety net kind of programs that I can take advantage of?

Is my wife right?

My wife wants us to leave the house because my mom is trying to make us stay in separate rooms except on the weekends. Mom says that we should get plenty of sleep for work the next day. I don't want us to leave because mom is helping a lot like ironing my clothes, cleaning the bathroom and making snacks for us when we get home from work.

Should my wife do what my mom says?

We've been married for a few years now. My mom still insists on me being home by midnight. Now my mother is insisting that my wife do the same. We're usually in before then anyway, but my wife keeps saying that she has a problem with it. I'm not sure, I think that we should respect our elders.
